Design a digital product with carefully executed research. The UI design stage involves fleshing out your vision of your digital product and executing a design direction in a high-fidelity, interactive prototype that simulates the intended product experience. Decisions for brand expression and user interface design should work together with product performance features, bringing the product simulation to life through clear design intent demonstrated with Figma.
UpHigh is an in-flight entertainment app that gives passengers access to movies, music, games, and daily content offline. Air travel often leaves passengers bored and frustrated, especially on smaller planes without seatback systems. The concept centers on 'elevation,' represented by the moving arrow in the logo, which symbolizes both physical flight and the idea of lifting the passenger experience. UpHigh keeps travelers 'still moving,' transforming downtime in the air into enjoyable and productive time.
The design system uses altitude-inspired visual cues with a clean, modern interface that prioritizes ease of use at 30,000 feet. Research methods including MoSCoW prioritization, value proposition mapping, user research, card sorting, and user testing informed the design decisions. The Figma system includes UI features with dark mode changes that automatically switch when you're UpHigh in flight versus when you're at home or the airport, so you can enjoy your content handy in any environment. The visual identity reflects the upward movement and elevation concept while maintaining accessibility and functionality in challenging flight conditions, creating an engaging experience that makes passengers feel like they're still moving UpHigh even when confined to their seats.
